Frequently Asked Questions

Hey there! Can you tell me what this Jamglue thing is all about?

Check out our about page.

Will Jamglue work on my computer?

Almost certainly! Jamglue is a web-based application, so you won't need to download any software or install any plugins. The two things you need to make sure of are that you have Adobe Flash 8 or higher installed and JavaScript enabled in your browser. Jamglue works the best in Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer 7, but things should still mostly work in Safari, Opera, and earlier versions of Internet Explorer.

Is Jamglue a place to download music?

Jamglue is really about remixing music, not downloading. We make it easy for anyone to remix music from a web browser.

If you have your own music that you'd like to share with everyone, you can upload it to Jamglue and anyone can remix it. Just make sure you're responsible about what you contribute so you don't violate the copyright of others.

How can I be sure that I get credit when people use my creations?

We at Jamglue are huge fans of the Creative Commons licensing scheme that lets you do exactly that. After you upload or create a mix, go to the 'Edit info' link on the top-left of the track/mix page to choose a license. You can specify whether people need to give you attribution when they use your work, whether your creations can be used for commercial purposes, and whether derivative works must use the same license as the license you chose.

This sounds complicated, but we actually do all the hard work for you of making sure that the licenses in your mixes are compatible! Hopefully this will let you spend more time making awesome music and less time worrying about people using your work inappropriately.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

If you entered an email address when you signed up, you can use the password reset form to have a new password emailed to you. Otherwise, contact us and we'll do our best to help you!

I'm having trouble verifying my account. What should I do?

In order to verify your Jamglue account, we send you an email with a special link. If you don't see an email from us, you should (a) check your spam folder, then (b) make sure you typed your email address correctly. Common mistakes are putting a "www" in front of your email address (most addresses don't have "www" in them), or putting in an email address that's "@jamglue.com" (only people who work at Jamglue have addresses like that). You can always view or change your email address to re-send the verification email. If you need more help just contact us.

How do I download a mix or track?

First go to the page for that mix or track (you can usually do this by clicking on its title). Then just click the "download" link in the left column. If you're trying to download the finished MP3 for a mix that you just created or changed, it may take a few minutes before the new MP3 is ready.

How do I delete a mix or track?

To delete unwanted music that you created or uploaded, make sure you are logged in, then go to the page for that mix or track (by clicking on the title). In the top right, you should see a "delete" link. If you do not see a delete link, it means that someone is already using your music in one of their mixes. If you really want to delete something of yours that someone else is using, contact us and we can help you out.

How do I delete my account?

We hope that you're having a good time, but if you really want to leave we can help you out. Try our account deletion tool.

How do I change my screen name?

You can change the name that's displayed in the 'About' section of your profile by editing your profile and changing the 'Name' box. We don't recommend changing your actual Jamglue username-- other users may have trouble telling who you are.

Can I upload music that I didn't create?

To make sure your material is legal, you should upload only works that you've created, or that are already in the Public Domain or licensed under Creative Commons. See our Terms of Service for the gory details.

Why don't you have all the music I want?

All the music on Jamglue is contributed by our users or our record label partners, so as we build relationships with more artists, you'll be able to find more and more music you like. In the mean time, hopefully you can find some music that you are interested in listening to or remixing!

So the spelling is Jamglue, not JamGlue?

That's right. Though frankly it's not a big deal; we're just glad you're here checking out the site!
