Momento mori, a latin phrase commonly used to describe a certain approach in art. The phrase, and the art it is associated with, seeks to remind us that we are mortal. Often, momento mori is associated with carpe diem, another latin phrase that is often interpreted as "seize the day." Where momento mori focuses on mortality and seeks to add humility and reduce hubris in an individual, carpe diem is all about making the most out of every moment for death is right around the corner.
So what do you think that says about me that I would choose to define myself by momento mori as opposed to carpe diem? I'll let you figure that one out on your own
