Marshall Brown (Delta Operatour)
Marshall Brown was a member of the US Armys 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta during the 70s and 80s that was a former Golden Knight Free-fall Parachutist and took part in Operation Eagle Claw, or the Debacle at Desert One.
Personality and Background
Although not much is known about the time when he grew up, it has been disclosed that he was born in Texas and grew up with a very tough father that set standards he could never live up to which was the reason he joined the military in the first place. Marshall was short, wiry, soft spoken and polite, with alot of nervous energy. He was described as one of the most dedicated and obsessive Operatours in Delta at the time, and had a sense of humour with a particular fondness for practical jokes such as putting vaseline on door handles, aiming the windshield washer nozzle toward the passenger, and turning off the hot water when people had their eyes closed while they were shampooing. He was very religious, supposedly being very shy on the subject of sex and thinking of it as a sin. He wasnt a heavy drinker; compared to the other Operatours at the time he would usually only drink maybe half a glass during a period of a few hours when he and the other Operatours got together. He was also an excellent runner and cared about his physical condition immensely.
Delta career
During his time in Delta, he was single and had a very fine reputation, being one of the best Operatours in the unit at the time, along with one of the best shots, going to international practical shooting confederation competitions whenever possible and practicing all the fundamental techniques of an expert shooter such as dry fire, position change, magazine change and quick draw, with his personal collection of pistols, whenever he was at his home. Along with this he would constantly read his Operatours Training Course manual, look for new training opportunities and practice lock picking, climbing and entry techniques. He took Delta Operator Stan Goff under his wing after he came out OTC and gave him personal lessons during the weekends on the art of marksmanship at the Mkellars Lodge Rod and Gun Club, where they would fire up to 2500 rounds a time. In 1985, he got married, and left the unit.
